Enmanji Teriyaki, July 10, 2011
I met Diane and Jess at their place for an 11 a.m. start. We had earlier agreed to skip the 'Lucy Tour' for this year and just do an impromptu ride in the Sebastopol area. The late start was timed so we could (hopefully) miss most of the crowd at the teriyaki feed.
Unlike last week's ride in similar environs, today, while still very sunny, was much cooler. Our route took us up Bloomfield and along the West side of Sebastopol via Pleasant Hill and Ragle Rd. We got onto 116 and then rode Vine Hill, Laguna, Trenton, Trenton-Healdsburg, Mark West Station before turning onto Slusser to go to the Airport. After short stop there to admire all the planes (and to get a Snoopy and Woodstock photo :-) we headed back to Sebastopol on Laughlin, Woolsey, West Olivet, Olivet, Piner, Willowside, Hall, Sanford, Occidental and High School Road.
We were on track for our 2 p.m. arrival at the temple when yours truly picked up a 2 inch nail in the rear tire on High School. Immediate flat. Grrrr. Oh well, at least it wasn't hard to find the hole. We weren't too delayed, either. Got to the feed at about 2:15 or so. Lines were short and table space plentiful. The chicken was great as usual and we had nice entertainment from a local judo club.
After the lunch, I took the 'short' route back via Elphrick while Diane and Jess went the slightly less steep Bloomfield way. The day was capped off magnificently with baked apple slices on homemade crepes with ice cream. Yum yum!
